VERY Important People for the Champion program (who provide an enhanced experience for our athletes) are parents who come alongside and volunteer for one of the roles below! We've heard that these roles are not all that difficult, but they make a big difference. The number next to the role denotes the number of volunteers we are seeking for that role (usually because it's not expected that any one person performs the task for the entire season).

PHANTASTIC PHOTOGRAPHERS (4)

Photographers typically has a pretty nice lens (though great photos have come from phones!), and they come to the meets to photograph the athletes in action. After taking the pictures, they upload them to the team's google photo page. Everyone enjoys being recognized, and seeing that their picture was taken is not a small thing! The 4 photographers are so the duties can be spread around so that no person has to stay the entire meet, and so that some pictures at practice can be acquired as well.

SOCIALITES (2)

The Champion Social Chairs take the lead to see if people are interested in hosting any pre-race (or other) get-togethers at their homes. Then, the socialites coordinate with the coaches to let everyone know when these parties or potlucks are taking place. The Champion Socialites also assist in the planning any overnight meets. And, finally, the main thing that these people do is plan the Post-Season Banquet / Party, which is typically a low-budget affair, but still a nice exclamation point to the season.

FANWEAR COORDINATORS (2)

The Fanwear coordinators come up with the design for each season's shirts. They use the fanwear spreadsheet to order the apparel, and then they take the shirts to the printer. They also distribute the shirts / hoodies and collect the payment for these items. Two coordinators work together to divide and conquer on this task.

FINANCE FRIENDS (2)

The CFO's of the Champions primarily provide oversight to ensure that the program's finances are budgeted and handled responsibly. They are added as co-signers at the bank so that they can write checks for end-of-season payments. They also make sure that all registration payments are made (following up with any that may not have been).

GAME DAY ASSISTANTS (10)

For the first 8-10 weeks of the season, the Champions have "Game Days" on Wednesday to change things up and to promote team building. Often the high schoolers will run a point-to-point run, which requires a ride back from the destination they run to. This typically requires 3-4 vehicles (and drivers). The younger Champions often participate in a game activity that also requires help (with no pre-work required, however). The Game Day Assistant commits to help on 4 of these Wednesdays.

PAPER PEEP (1)

The Paper Peep is responsible for collecting the registration, code of conduct, and physical forms for each athlete. The peep puts each paper in its appropriate vanilla folder, and then gives these folders to the Head Coach (Joy) after all the papers have been collected. A little bit of follow up may be required to collect these, but athletes are not allowed to race until all the paperwork is squared away.

TENT MANAGERS (4)

Tent Managers work together to bring the Champion's tent and banners to the meets, put it up (an hour or so before the first varsity race), take it down, bring it home, and repeat at the next race.

MEET WATER AND SNACKIES PROVIDERS (6)

These Providers bring a large water jug (or cooler), or maybe even capri-suns and other goodies! 🙂 The athletes really seem to like chocolate milk. How exactly this is handled is up to the team of 6 Providers to decide!

VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS (2)

The volunteer coordinators work with the coaches after the VIP's spreadsheet has been filled out to remind the VIP's each week what they are signed up to do, and to inform the coaches if any gaps arise. There will be 2 Coordinators, one for the first half of the season and 1 for the second half.
