Who Are We?

Austin Champions Homeschool Athletics Association (ACHAA) was established to provide homeschooled youth with opportunities to compete in competitive athletic events in a Christian atmosphere. Through this athletic competition, Austin Champions are committed to provide parents with support in their responsibility of developing high moral character within each student athlete. Our athletes are from Georgetown, Leander, Cedar Park, Round Rock, and other surrounding areas (athletes have come from Hutto, Bertram, Burnet, and Marble Falls). Each sport has a separate practice location in the Brushy Creek / Williamson County Park area of Cedar Park. Every homeschooled child from 5th to 12th grades are invited to participate!

When are the XC and track seasons?

Distance running is a year round activity! XC (cross country) takes place in the Fall, and track is during the Spring. We begin XC training in mid-June, and the meets span from August to October (with a couple of later optional post-season meets in November/December). Training for track begins in January with the meets taking place from February to Early-May. Practices are offered 5 days a week (Monday through Friday) with workout days on Tuesdays and Thursdays (but it's important to run on recovery days as well!). Most Champions elect to run with us every day, but this is not a requirement. Practices will be canceled on occasion for inclement weather, and parents may always use their discretion, of course.

Do you offer a non-competitive program?

Yes! While we absolutely encourage students to participate in the meets (because a lot of exceptional "life lessons" occur there, and they are fun!), an athlete may opt to join the Champions fitness program. This program is essentially the same, except it excludes the meets (races / competitions). Champions in the fitness program are invited to run every day in XC. In track, they may come twice a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays).

What are the registration fees?

We very much want to give everyone who wants to participate the opportunity to do so. So, we work hard to make the Champions programs as affordable as possible. Costs go toward the meets, uniform tops, after season party, and the coaching. For high schoolers, the registration fee is $220/season. For 5th-8th graders, the cost is $200 (there are fewer meets for the younger athletes). The cost is $175 for those in the fitness program. Track Fees are TBD based on the costs to use the track. Finally, there may be an additional fee of $50/athlete if parents elect to forgo a volunteer role. Parents may always come and run as well FOR FREE (but there usually isn't a lot of coaching, singlets, or meets involved)!

What else is required to join?

All athletes are invited to check out the program for a week or two before deciding to officially join! In addition to the registration fees, runners must get a physical (once/year) and sign the Champions Release of Liability as well as the Code of Conduct to participate in the program.
